Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson get close in Cannes

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan was snapped getting close to pal Samantha Ronson in Cannes this week -- fueling rumors the pair are more than just good friends.

In one photo, Lohan was seen intimately resting on Samantha's neck; and in another, the pair looking loved-up and were holding hands.

Lohan and openly gay Ronson were in Cannes attending P Diddy's lavish yacht party.

A fellow guest said: "They looked like proper lovebirds.

"And they didnt care who saw them draped over each other.

"If they are together then its a nice vision of their love."

However, last week, Lindsay's mom, Dina, blasted reports the Mean Girls actress, 21, fancied girls.

She said, "Samantha's an amazing girl.

"They're best friends. They're just friends.

"It's so silly. We actually laugh about it now. It really does hurt... but you develop a thick skin. You have to ignore it."

On track : Revelling in a licence to thrill

Telarc's Direct Stream Digital technology is justly celebrated and two of the label's recent releases take advantage of its unique presence and potential to thrill.A new Brahms German Requiem, with Robert Spano conducting the Atlanta Symphony Opera and Chorus, makes for sumptuous listening. But then the same musicians' 2004 disc of the Berlioz Requiem created the perfect template - offering unflinching brilliance when the composer lets loose with the big forces, but treating the quieter moments with the utmost sensitivity. While the Brahms score may not supply the same speaker-shattering moments as that of the French composer, there is a richness here, even in the subdued opening which leads to the dramatic entrance of the 200-voice choir.Inspirational choral singing, especially at the lower end of the dynamic scale, underlines every detail of Brahms' setting - from the flashes of joy in the first movement to the final blessings of the last. Even when the Atlanta singers are at full voice, orchestral detail is never sacrificed, right through to the most delicate flicker of harp.

Marius Kwiecien's strong baritone effortlessly navigates the third movement, albeit with a vibrato that is only a little less distracting than that of soprano Twyla Robinson. But even if Robinson's voice is a little ripe in Ihr habt nun Traurigkei, compensation comes in the keen shading and phrasing of the surrounding woodwind. From Teutonic fare to a taste of the Orient in downtown New York, as the Ying Quartet give us Dim Sum, their collection of recent American Chinese composers. This is contemporary music that is spruce and approachable, from Tan Dun stirring up enticing rhythms in his Drum and Gon to the folksong-like fluency of Chen Yi's Shuo. The Yings are virtuosi and Telarc presents them appropriately, especially in Vivian Fung's obsessive Pizzicato, which explores every sound the players can make, sans bows. Two recording premieres stand out; a whimsical 95-second shot of colour from China's first avant-gardist, Ge Gan-ru, and the lingering mysteries of Lei Liang's Gobi Gloria, with its extraordinary evocations of traditional Mongolian throat-singers.* Brahms, Ein Deutsches Requiem (Telarc CD 80701)* Ying Quartet, Dim Sum (Telarc CD 80690) both through Elite Music

Sean Levert - Leverts Widow Suing Prison Authorities

LATEST: The widow of late R+B singer SEAN LEVERT has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Cleveland prison officials after the star collapsed in his cell earlier this year (08).

The 39-year-old son of The O'Jays star Eddie Levert fell unconscious while behind bars at Cuyahoga County Jail on 30 March (08).

He was taken to the local Lutheran Hospital, but was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

A coroner ruled he died of natural causes and it was revealed he suffered from heart disease and high blood sugar levels.

But Levert's widow Angela Lowe insists his untimely death was because he did not receive imminent medical care after his collapse and he was not given alprazolam - a drug he had been prescribed with - while in jail.

She claims that the right medical attention could have prevented Levert's death and she is suing for unspecified damages, according to website TMZ.com.

Levert had been serving a 22-month prison sentence for failing to pay $89,025 (GBP44,513) in child support to the mother of his kids.

P Diddy's Hollywood star shindig

The Hollywood walk of fame. It conjures up images of glamour, of immortality, of film stars getting cement stuck on their carefully manicured fingers. As of this weekend it will also summon images of P Diddy. Which is only right and proper, really. On Saturday, Sean Combs will become only the 2,362nd person to be awarded a Hollywood star. To celebrate this rare honour (shared by such luminaries as easy listening pioneer Andre Kostelanetz and Bobby "the Polish Prince" Vinton), Diddy will - of course - be having a party.

The Mirror's 3am believe they have the scoop on quite what will be required for Diddy's star-celebration. In the news doesn't have any such thing, but it hasn't stopped us from adding manufactured items into the Diddy list.It includes:10 private jets on standbyFive different Sean John outfits: a tux, a smoking jacket, a pimp suit, a top hat and tails and a pyjama comboA dog named Trudi who can rap just like Biggie Smalls£200,000 worth of French Ciroc vodka300 white lily arrangements400 black squirrel arrangements£200 goodie bags containing Diddy's Unforgiveable Black perfume.A sumptuous seafood and grilled meat platter spread.SandwichesAnd THAT'S what makes Diddy a star. By the way, we didn't make the pyjama combo up.Amy Winehouse in apparent non drug/drink/dissolution-related appearance in the Sun shocker. The Sun's Smart Gordon claims that Amy is set to split from her record label Island and form her own company just as soon as she's released her next album, which, by all accounts, she hasn't started making yet."Amy Winehouse is plotting to take control of her £10m fortune and start her own record label", explains Smart, just as we predicted."The rehab singer has been discussing her secret plans with close aides and intends to quit Island Records after her next album."Cue the "source": "For the first time in her career Amy is beginning to have her head turned by the cash she can make. It's never been a huge deal in the past but she is beginning to realise everyone else is making all the money out of her success."Once she gets that out she wants to set up her own label. She plans to release her own material as well as her mates' like Tyler James and Remi Nicole."Goodness knows where this has come from, but when a drug user starts talking about wanting to do something for the money, you can at least be convinced of the motives. That said, at the end of his item, Smart offers the following unusually clued-up observation on what might actually come to pass. "It may be that her bosses at Universal, Island's parent company, allow her to set up the label under their umbrella with a big royalties deal as a sweetener."Could it be that, in fact, it's the label putting this all about in the first place? We put a call in to Island, they haven't got back yet.In the news has been busy posing for Annie Liebowitz in nothing but a facecloth all this week so, as yet, we've failed to comment on Smart Gordon's continuing battle to snipe at the Glastonbury festival at every given opportunity. After claiming Jay-Z was to drop out, an event still yet to happen, he offered a critique of the lineup yesterday, suggesting that the appearance of James Blunt (a guy Smart can't make up his mind whether he likes or hates) and Gilbert O'Sullivan, has turned 30 years of festival tradition into one big disgrace. And that despite the fact the Courteneers are playing!Today he's provided another element about the affair and has gone all interactive on you in the process. "I asked whether Glastonbury's lineup - including Jay-Z and Shakin' Stevens was the worst ever. Most music fans on Bizarre's My Sun message board agreed with me. Xoe ranted: "Michael Eavis has gone too far."It's good of Smart Gordon to concede on the ranting point but Xoe's language is typical of Smart himself, who has been criticising Eavis's scheduling as if Glasto were a publicly funded body rather than a private concern. Eavis has picked the bands. You don't have to buy a ticket if you don't want to. There's no scandal. Now please can everyone get back to beating on the BBC instead?

Heigl Withdraws From Emmy Race Over Poor Material

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl pulled herself out of the list of Emmy Award contenders as part of a protest about her character's development on the medical drama. The actress, who won the Best Supporting Actress prize at the Emmys last year insisted she be left off the official ballot because she felt her character was awful during the most recent season of the show. Heigl tells website GoldDerby.com, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and (so), in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation, I withdrew my name from contention. "I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
